Mammel – Motherly
Mammel – Motherly
Inspired by the last full moon of 2024 when I visited the ancient stone site at Mên-an-Tol site. It embodies the moons bright reflection of light from Earth, the bellied body representing one of the beliefs that the holed stone was used in fertility ceremonies. Decorated with plant fibre cordage imprint around the neck, a decoration used in local early neolithic and bronze age pottery, we know that in communities it was the women and children that were involved in this process from the fingerprints found on unearthed pottery remains.
